Leave Time terms

Effective October 7, 2026.

What Leave Time is

Leave Time is a free web tool at leaveti.me, made by one person, Tim Rhodes, in Ontario, Canada. It tells commuters in the Toronto region when to leave to make a GO Transit, UP Express or TTC trip, compares stations, estimates drive and walk times, and can plan a one-off trip, including to Toronto Pearson airport. There is no account and nothing to sign up for.

Leave Time is not an official service. It is not made by or connected to Metrolinx, GO Transit, UP Express or the TTC.

Estimates only

Every time Leave Time shows is an estimate. Trains can be late, cancelled or changed. Drive and walk times are estimates, with a traffic allowance you can make smaller. Parking figures are lot sizes, not spaces left. Weather, security lines, closures and ordinary delays can all add time. Leave Time does not guarantee that you will arrive on time.

Your responsibility

Check the official source before you travel: GO Transit, UP Express, the TTC, or your airline. Allow extra time for anything that matters, especially a flight, an appointment or a connection. The decision of when to leave is yours.

Do not use Leave Time while driving.

No liability for missed trips

To the fullest extent the law allows, Tim Rhodes is not responsible for a missed train, flight or appointment, or for any cost or loss that comes from relying on Leave Time. If liability cannot be excluded, it is capped at the amount you paid through chip in during the previous 12 months.

No warranty

Leave Time is provided as is. It may be unavailable, wrong or changed at any time, without notice. There is no warranty that it is accurate, complete or fit for a particular trip.

Where the information comes from

GO Transit and UP Express times come from Metrolinx schedule data, used with permission, plus Metrolinx live delay information where available. TTC times come from published schedules. Drive and walk estimates come from Google Maps and Mapbox. Payments are processed by Stripe.

Data used in this product or service is provided with the permission of Metrolinx. Metrolinx makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, with respect to the Data and assumes no responsibility for the accuracy or currency of the data used in this product or service.

Metrolinx, Google, Mapbox and Stripe each have their own terms, and none of them is responsible for Leave Time.

Privacy

Your saved commute and settings stay in your own browser. Addresses are sent to Google Maps to find them and measure the trip. Mapbox receives map points, not addresses. Nothing about your commute is stored on Leave Time's own servers.

If you tap "Use my location" by an address box, your position is sent once to Google to find the nearest street address.

If you turn on the location setting, your position is compared with your saved addresses on your device and is never sent or stored.

If you chip in, your card or wallet details go straight to Stripe and never pass through Leave Time. Stripe's payment form only loads when the chip-in invitation is shown or opened, and it sets its own cookies when it does. Leave Time keeps no record of your payment beyond whether you have already chipped in, so it doesn't ask again.

Leave Time counts visits with Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies, and with its own visit counter, so it can tell how the tool is used. Neither records your addresses or the places you travel between.

The page "What this stores" lists everything kept, and where.

Chip in

Chip in is optional: a one-off amount from $2 to $500 CAD, processed by Stripe. It is not a donation to a charity, and it buys nothing: no service, no feature, no priority. Chipping in is not a promise that Leave Time will keep running, stay the same, or add anything you ask for. The tool stays free either way. If you paid by mistake, ask within 30 days and the payment will be refunded.

Fair use

Use Leave Time yourself, on your own device. Do not scrape it, run automated or bulk requests against it, or try to get around the daily limits.

Changes

The tool can change at any time, and so can these terms. The date at the top is when the current terms took effect. Using Leave Time after that date means you accept the terms as they then stand.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
